Paolo Villanueva is a Creative Technologist based in Sunnyvale, California, with 15+ years of experience across design, engineering, and creative leadership. Working across spatial computing, XR, AI, product and experience design, and emerging technologies, he brings together creative vision and technical execution to build products that feel intuitive, intentional, and human.

Designing What Comes Next

Paolo’s strength is turning ambiguity into clear, intuitive products. His approach begins with understanding people and defining the experience before choosing the technology then guiding ideas from early concept and prototype through development and polished execution.

He holds an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. As Creative Director at EducationXR, Paolo leads multidisciplinary teams building enterprise immersive training, simulation, and product-learning experiences for healthcare, medical technology, industrial, and workforce organizations.

His work has supported organizations including GE, Siemens Electric, Philips, Mass General Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, translating complex equipment, procedures, and real-world workflows into interactive spatial experiences.

Beyond enterprise work, Paolo creates and develops new forms of immersive media for platforms such as Apple Vision Pro. He co-leads Step Into Vision, a community bringing together creators, developers, and storytellers working in spatial computing, and has spoken at Apple during WWDC26 about the work he and the community are building in this space.

His work spans spatial video, spatial audio, interactive storytelling, native application development, and tools for creating immersive experiences. Through projects including LALÒ Immersive, Shared Visions, Step Into Vision, and Maestro, he explores how spatial computing can move beyond adapting traditional screens and instead create new ways for people to experience stories, performances, media, and interactive worlds.

Paolo remains deeply hands-on. Whether he is coding, designing, prototyping, directing, filming, or leading multidisciplinary teams, he moves comfortably between creative and technical disciplines to bring ideas into reality.

In the age of AI, his philosophy remains deliberately human: use technology to strengthen human creativity, not replace it or cut corners. His work is grounded in craft, clarity, experimentation, and solving the human problem first.
